Mystic Mountain, Ocho Rios

One of the latest attractions to Jamaica is the Rainforest Bobsled at Mystic Mountain. You start off with the Sky Explorer which takes you to the main entrance of the park, about a 10 minute ride overlooking the town of Ocho Rios. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy the signature Bobsled ride, which takes you on a journey through the tropical landscape evoking Jamaica's Olympic Bobsled team. Afterwards, zip from tree to tree on a customized zip line canopy tour for an adrenaline rush. Cool down on the water slide and pool overlooking the town of Ocho Rios, and end with a bite to eat at the R2 at 700ft restaurant.

Location: Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Admission: Sky Explorer US $42, Bobsled $62 (includes Sky Explorer) Zip Line $104 (includes Sky Explorer) Tranopy $124 (a combination of all 3 rides).
Hours: Daily 8:00am-5:00pm

Mystic Mountain

We came in on a Cruise ship(Carnival) and opted for the tranopy excursion, which I would highly recommend to anyone. The tranopy includes the chair lift(ride as much as you want) up to the mountain--the Bobsled ride, which went a heck of a lot faster then I thought it would--and the Zipline--which was a safe, but, adrenaline charged rush. The staff on the mountain were not only friendly and helpful, but very funny, and a pleasure to be around. If you hit Ocho Rios, hit the mountain. You won't regret it!

Fun ride (but short)

The Bobsled at Mystic Mountain was a lot of fun. The guide instructed me at the start that you can't flip off since the sleds are attached to the track so feel free to go at full speed, which I did and it was great. But it only takes about 3 minutes to get to the end at which point you're pulled up to the top with cables. So 3 minutes of fun may have been a little pricey, but you only get one chance to ride on a bobsled through a tropical environment. On my next visit I'll be sure to try the zip line, which looked like fun too.

My only complaint here is that you have to pay US $42 for the Sky Explorer just to get to the main entrance of the park. Even if you just want to go to the restaurant (R2 at 700ft) or be with your friends who are going on the bobsled and zip line. So in essence, the bobsled is $20 but in order to get to it, you have to pay $42 first (total $62).

On the upside, the staff is very friendly and willing to assist and answer any questions you may have.
